Analysis of Factors Affecting Sediment Deposition in Cheek Dams in Taiyuan City
Check dams are an important soil and water conservation engineering measure in the Loess Plateau region. This study is based on the measurement of sediment deposition in 11 check dams in Taiyuan City in 2022 and the observation of the current conditions in the areas controlled by the dams. The factors affecting sediment deposition in check dams in Taiyuan City are discussed. The results show that the measured sediment deposition in the 11 selected check dams in 2022 did not significantly correlate with the area of the basin controlled by the dams, the area of various land uses within the controlled basin, the area of forest land with different slopes,or the area of cultivated land. However,it showed a highly significant correlation with the area of steep grassland.Using the measured sediment deposition and the current land use characteristics of the basins controlled by the 11 check dams,a linear model was constructed:D=7.523 5 Sgentle_forest-760.769 Sflat_grass+26.401 95 Ssteep_grass+8.741 86 Sgentle_cultivated-24.528 71.The Nash efficiency coefficient was used to test the simulation results of the model, yielding an R2 of 0.98 and a Nash coefficient of 0.975,indicating that the model can better predict the annual sediment deposition of check dams.
