Comprehensive Risk Assessment of Multiple Hazards in Chengdu Based on RS and GIS
Chengdu,as a high population density area and one of the strategic centers of social and economic development in south-west China, and often suffers from a variety of natural disasters. Therefore,it is urgent to carry out a comprehensive risk assessment of multiple natural hazards in Chengdu.Given the main disasters faced in Chengdu, this study usesd remote sensing and geograph-ic information technology to evaluate the risks of geological disaster, forest fire, and flood disaster, respectively.Furthermore, the geographical weighted principal component analysis method was used to obtain the comprehensive risk of the three natural hazards. Results reveal that the geological disasters of high risk level is mainly located in Pengzhou and Dujiangyan, with the area of 14.82 km2 and 4.72 km2,respectively.The heavy and high risk areas of forest fires are basically the same as the distribution of forest area, mainly distributed in the mountainous areas, accounting for 18.33%and 10.59%of the whole study area, respectively.Flood disas-ter risk areas are mainly distributed in the areas around rivers, and high risk areas are mainly concentrated in Dujiangyan(1.54 km2)and Longquanyi(1.10 km2).The spatial distribution of multiple disasters risk is highly correlated with the risks of geological disasters and forest fire, and the high risk areas are mainly distributed in Pengzhou and Dujiangyan. The results indicate that multi-depart-ment cooperation and time-sharing management will greatly benefit disaster risk prevention and control in Chengdu.
