Relationship between Water Level Change and River Bed Evolution in the Middle Reaches of the Ruili River
The Ruili River has abundant water resources and a large drop, making it suitable for hydropower development.Currently, multiple hydropower stations have been built according to the plan.Understanding the changes and trends of the water level in the Ruili River can provide a basis for the development and management of hydropower in the Ruili River.Taking Tenglongqiao station in the middle reaches of the main stream as an example,This paper used the Mann-Kendall test method to analyze the water level changes of the Ruili River from 1968 to 2022.Based on the measured data of the cross-section,the riverbed evolution of the Ruili River section was analyzed, and the relationship between the water level changes of the Ruili River and the riverbed evolution was explored. The results reveal that the annual average water level of the Ruili River from 1968 to 2022 showed a slow upward trend before 2004,and continued to decline after 2005.After testing,it showed a significant downward trend, and it has been still in a declining stage until 2022.The water level during the flood season and dry season has shown a significant downward trend since 2004,and the fluctuation of water level during the same flow rate dry season is greater than that during the flood season. The typi-cal vertical and horizontal sections from 1968 to 2022 indicate severe undercutting of the Ruili River bed, with a depth of 3.6 m.The main reasons for the changes in water level during the flood season are the inflow of water, sediment, and riverbed evolution, while the main reason for the decrease in water level during the dry season is the incision of the riverbed.
