Characterization of vaginal microbial distribution and changes of community structure in women with different levels of cervi-cal lesions
Objective To analyze the characteristics of vaginal microbial distribution and the changes of community structure in women with different levels of cervical lesions. Methods Seventy patients with cervical lesions admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College,Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology from January 2021 to June 2023 were selected and divided into cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)Ⅰ group(n=20),CIN n group(n=20),CIN Ⅲ group(n=20),and cervical cancer(CC)group(n=10),while 20 healthy women were selected as healthy group. The distribution characteristics and the community structures of vaginal microorganisms were compared before treatment among groups, and the distribution characteristics and the community structure of vaginal microorganisms were compared in the CC patients before and after treatment. Results The differences in the distri-bution of bacterial phyla and genera were statistically significant between healthy group,CIN Ⅰ group,CIN n group,CIN Ⅲ group and CC group(P<0.05).The percentage of patients with normal colony density and normal diversity of bacterial flora was significantly lower in CIN Ⅱ group and CIN Ⅲ group than in healthy group, and it was significantly lower in CC group than in CIN Ⅰ group and healthy group(P<0.05).The percentage of patients with normal colony density was significantly lower in CC group than in CIN Ⅰgroup and healthy group(P<0.05).The percentage of thick-walled bacterial phylum and the percentage of Lactobacillus spp.were significantly decreased in CC patients after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion In different stages of cervical lesions, the distribution characteristics and the community structure of vaginal microorganisms are significantly altered. The treatment for CC patients may have adverse effects on the distribution characteristics and the community structure of vaginal microorganisms,so it is necessary to pay attention to the vaginal microecological imbalance during the treatment.
