"格物"是程朱理学中强调主体通过与外物互动而实现修养德性的工夫.程朱理学提出了"玩物适情"与"观物察己"两种与物互动的方式,它们构成了"格物"工夫得以从"审美"通往"道德"的两层内在机制.在"玩物适情"中主体产生类似玩耍游戏时的心理状态,进而在悠游自在中涵养其性情.在"观物察己"中通过审美凝视而物我合一,使得主体在"活泼泼"的本真状态里体察自我本性,进而明"理".
Abstract
The"gewu"gongfu in the Cheng-Zhu school aims to emphasize that the subject realizes the cultivation of virtue through the interaction with the object.Neo-Confucianism puts forward two specific methods of interaction with the object,namely,"playing with things to make emotions appropriate"and"observing things to investigate oneself".They constitute the two-layer internal mechanism of gewu gongfu from aesthetics to morality.By creating a psychological condition similar to that of playing games,"playing with things to make emotions appropriate"allows the subject to cultivate his or her temperament in a carefree way."Observing things to investigate oneself"combines the object with the subject through the aesthetic gaze,which makes the subject comprehend his own nature in the authentic state,and then grasp the principle.
