Correlation between prolonged ECG PR,QT,QTc intervals and carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM patients
Objective:To investigate the relationship between prolongation of ECG pulse rate(PR),QT,QTc in-terval and carotid atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)patients.Methods:A case-control study was used to select 97 patients diagnosed with T2DM with carotid atherosclerosis(CAS)as the CAS group, and 95 pa-tients diagnosed with T2DM without carotid atherosclerosis as the control group.Ecg PR,QT,QTc interval measure-ments,blood glucose and lipid levels were compared between the two groups.Multifactor analysis was used to inves-tigate the relationship between prolonged PR,QT,QTc interval and carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM patients. Results:The duration of PR,QT and QTc in CAS group was longer than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant(all P<0.05).The course of diabetes in CAS group was longer than that in control group, and the proportion of patients with coronary heart disease in CAS group was higher than that in control group, the differ-ence was statistically significant(all P<0.05).The levels of serum triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)in CAS group were higher than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Prolonged PR(OR=1.833),prolonged QT(OR=1.718),prolonged QTc(OR=1.487),increased TG(OR=1.833),increased hs-CRP(OR=2.081)and prolonged diabetes course(OR=2.036)were independent risk factors for carotid atherosclerosis in T2DM patients(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Through analysis, the prolongation of PR,QT,QTc intervals in the electrocardiogram of T2DM patients is closely related to the occurrence of carotid atherosclerosis, which can be used as a screening indica-tor for early monitoring of carotid atherosclerosis in patien.
