The Relationship Between the Expression of TIM-3 and FOXA2 in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Its Clinicopathological Features and Prognosis
Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin do-main containing molecule 3(TIM-3)and forkhead box A2(FOXA2)in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and their clinicopatho-logical characteristics and prognosis. Methods 87 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(esophageal squamous cell carcinoma group)and 50 patients with chronic Esophagitis(control group)were selected as the study subjects.Compared the ex-pression of TIM-3 and FOXA2 between the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma group and the control group, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients with different clinical and pathological characteristics, and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients with different prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Kaplan-Meier survival curve was used for survival analysis, and Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to analyze the relationship between TIM-3,FOXA2 expression and prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Results The positive expression rate of TIM-3 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma group was higher than that in control group, while the positive expression rate of FOXA2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma group was lower than that in control group(P<0.05).The expression of TIM-3 and FOXA2 in esophageal squamous cell carcino-ma patients with different TNM stages, lymph node metastasis and different depth of invasion was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma group,68 patients survived and 19 died during the follow-up period. The posi-tive expression rate of TIM-3 in the dead patients was higher than that in the living patients, while the positive expression rate of FOXA2 was lower than that in the living patients(P<0.05).Kaplan-Meier survival curve showed that the overall survival rate of patients with negative TIM-3 and FOXA2 expression was higher than that of patients with positive TIM-3 and FOXA2 expression(P<0.05).Cox single factor regression analysis showed that TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion,TIM-3,FOX-A2 were the risk factors affecting the prognosis of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(P<0.05).Cox multivariate analysis showed that TNM stage, lymph node metastasis,TIM-3 and FOXA2 were independent risk factors affecting the prognosis of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(P<0.05).Conclusion The abnormal expression of TIM-3 and FOXA2 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma is closely related to TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion and prognosis.
