Expression of miR-9 and miR-194 in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma and Their Relationship with Prognosis
Objective To investigate the changes of expression levels of miR-9 and miR-194 in nasopharyngeal carcino-ma and their prognostic value. Methods 76 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma were followed up for 3 to 36 months and di-vided into death group(n =21 cases)and survival group(n =55 cases)according to the prognosis. The clinical data of nasopharyn-geal carcinoma patients with different expression levels of miR-9 and miR-194,as well as the expression levels of miR-9 and miR-194 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients with different prognosis were statistically compared.Logistic regression was used to ana-lyze the prognostic factors of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. Results In 76 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma,29 cases showed high expression of miR-9,47 cases showed low expression,35 cases showed high expression of miR-194 and 41 cases showed low expression. The clinical stages of patients with low expression of miR-9 and miR-194 areⅢ~Ⅳ,and the tumor sta-ges are T3~T4.The proportion of patients with high differentiation, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis was higher than that of patients with high expression of miR-9 and miR-194(P<0.05).There were significant differences in clinical stage, tumor stage, tissue differentiation, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis,miR-9 expression level and miR-194 expression level between the 2 groups(P<0.05);Clinical stage, tumor stage, degree of tissue differentiation, lymph node metastasis and dis-tant metastasis,miR-9 expression level and miR-194 expression level were the prognostic factors of NPC patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The low expression of miR-9 and miR-194 is related to the malignant biological behavior process and prognosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. This study suggests that miR-9 and miR-194 may be effective molecular targets for prognosis evaluation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which is worthy of further clinical exploration.
