Comparison of Efficacy,Safety and Cosmetic Effect Between Intraoperative Radiotherapy and Postoperative Whole Breast Radiotherapy for Breast Cancer Patients
Objective To compare the efficacy, safety and cosmetic effect of intraoperative radiotherapy and postopera-tive whole breast radiotherapy for breast cancer patients. Methods A total of 98 patients with breast cancer were collected for breast conserving surgery. They were divided into group A(n =49)and group B(n =49)according to the order of admission, and implemented postoperative whole breast radiotherapy and intraoperative radiotherapy respectively. The complications, cosmetic effects, tumor marker levels, and long-term prognosis were compared between the 2 groups. Results The incidence of complica-tions in group B was 8.16%,which was obviously lower than group A,24.49%(P<0.05);the excellent and good cosmetic rate in group B was 89.80%,which was obviously higher than 65.31%in group A(P<0.05);at8 weeks after surgery, the levels of serum carbohydrate antigen(CA)125 and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)in both groups were lower than before surgery(P<0.05),while there was no statistically obvious difference between the groups(P>0.05);the local recurrence, metastasis, and survival rates in group B were 6.12%,0.00%,and 100.00%,respectively,and there was no statistically significant difference compared to group A,2.04%,2.04%,and 97.96%(P>0.05).Conclusion The long-term effect of intraoperative radiotherapy in breast conserving surgery for breast cancer patients is similar to that of postoperative whole breast radiotherapy, but intraopera-tive radiotherapy can reduce the occurrence of complications and improve the cosmetic effect of breast.
