Prediction Value of Serum MMP-2 and SCCA1 Expression Levels for Postoperative Recurrence of Sinonasal Inverted Papilloma
Objective To investigate the predictive value of postoperative serum matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2)and squamous cell carcinoma antigen 1(SCCA1)expression levels for postoperative recurrence of sinonasal inverted papilloma(SNIP).Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 65 SNIP patients, and they were divided into recurrence group(n =12)and non-recurrence group(n =53)according to the recurrence situation within2 years after surgery. The expression lev-els of MMP-2 and SCCA1 in serum before and after operation were detected by Elisa.Clinical data including sex, age, alcohol and smoking history, tumor location, surgical procedure, postoperative use of 5-Fluorouracil(5-FU),Krouse stage, diabetes and hyper-tension were collected;Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of postoperative recurrence in in patients with SNIP;ROC curve was used to analyze the predictive value of postoperative serum MMP-2 and SCCA1 expression levels for postop-erative recurrence in patients with SNIP.Results After surgery, the serum levels of MMP-2 and SCCA1 in both groups were de-creased compared with those before surgery(P<0.05),while the serum expression levels of MMP-2 and SCCA1 in recurrence group were higher than those in non-recurrence group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that smoking history,no ap-plication of 5-FU after surgery,Krouse stage T3~T4,postoperative serum MMP-2 and SCCA1 expression level were risk factors for postoperative recurrence in patients with SNIP(P<0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve(AUC)of postoperative serum MMP-2 and SCCA1 alone and combination was 0.786,0.800 and 0.836,respectively,the sensitivity was 83.33%,75.00%and 91.67%,respectively,and the specificity was 71.70%,79.25%and 75.47%,respectively.Conclusion The expression levels of postoperative serum MMP-2 and SCCA1 can be used as auxiliary indicators to predict postoperative recur-rence in patients with SNIP,and the combined prediction effect is better.
