Study on the Correlation Between Metabolic Syndrome and the Risk and Clinicopatholog-ical Features of Thyroid Cancer
Objective To explore the correlation between metabolic syndrome(MetS)and the risk and clinicopathologi-cal features of thyroid cancer. Methods The clinical data of 645 patients with thyroid cancer were retrospectively analyzed as the observation group, and 685 healthy people in the same period were selected as the control group.Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the correlation between MetS and the risk and clinicopathological features of thyroid cancer. Results After adjus-ting for age, sex, body mass index(BMI)and thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH),Logistic regression analysis showed that MetS(OR=3.267,95%CI=1.636~6.524)and its metabolic factors increased the risk of thyroid cancer(P<0.05).MetS was as-sociated with tumor size(OR=5.680.95%CI=2.545~12.676),number of lesions(OR=7.254,95%CI=2.234~23.552),tumor stage(OR=8.148,95%CI=3.297~20.141)and lymph node metastasis(OR=3.859,95%CI=1.321~11.273)in patients with thyroid cancer. Conclusion MetS and its metabolic related factors can increase the risk of thyroid cancer, and may also predict the larger tumor diameter, multiple lesions, the tumor stage of Ⅲ~Ⅳ and lymph node metastasis in patients with thy-roid cancer.
