Clinical Characteristics and Prognostic Factors of Small Cell Lung Cancer in Different Age Groups
Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of small cell lung cancer(SCLC)pa-tients in different age groups. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records of 68 SCLC patients, who were divided into a younger group(<60 years old)and an older group(≥60 years old)according to their age.The clinical char-acteristics of the 2 groups were statistically analyzed.Follow up for 1 year, divide the 2 groups into poor prognosis group and good prognosis group based on their clinical outcomes(survival or death),and analyzed the factors affecting the prognosis of the 2 groups of patients using a multivariate logistic regression analysis model. Results There was no significant difference between the 2 groups in terms of marital status, family income, insurance and clinical stage(P>0.05);The proportion of squamous cell carci-noma and central lung cancer in the elderly group was higher than that in the younger group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Univariate analysis showed that marital status, family income, insurance, and clinical stage were signifi-cantly related to the prognosis of young patients with SCLC(P<0.05);Multivariate analysis showed that no spouse, family income<5000 yuan,no insurance, stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ were the main factors affecting the prognosis of young patients with SCLC(P<0.05);Univariate analysis showed that the clinical stage was related to the prognosis of elderly patients with SCLC(P<0.05);Multivari-ate analysis showed that stage Ⅲ~Ⅳ was the main prognostic factor of elderly patients with SCLC(P<0.05).Conclusion The clinical characteristics of SCLC patients in different age groups have certain differences. For the elderly patients, the pathological type is mainly squamous cell carcinoma, and the tumor growth site is mainly central lung cancer, and the prognostic factors of pa-tients in different age groups are also different,so clinical attention should be paid to it.
