Relationship Between EPAS1 and LETM1 in Cancer Tisues and Clinicopathological Characteristics in Patients with Gastric Cancer
Objective To explore the relationship between endothelial PAS domain-containing protein 1(EPAS1)and leucine-zipper-EF hand-containing transmembrane protein 1(LETM1)in cancer tisues and clinicopathological characteristics in patients with gastric cancer. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 89 patients with gastric cancer. The expressions of EPAS1 and LETM1 in gastric cancer tissues and normal para-carcinoma tissues were compared, and their relationship with clinicopathological characteristics of gastric cancer was analyzed. Results The immunohistochemical scores of EPAS1 and LETM1 in gastric cancer tissues were higher than those in normal para-carcinoma tissues(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in EPAS1 expression among patients with different age, genders, types of underlying diseases, tumor sites, venous invasion, lymph node metastasis and tumor diameter(P>0.05),but there were significant differences among pa-tients with different TNM staging, differentiation degree, invasion depth, histological types and Lauren's classifications(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in LETM1 expression among patients with different age, genders, types of underlying diseases, tumor sites, venous invasion, lymph node metastasis, tumor diameter, differentiation degree and histological types(P>0.05),but there were significant differences among patients with different TNM staging, invasion depth and Lauren's classifications(P<0.05).Conclusion The immunohistochemical scores of EPAS1 and LETM1 in cancer tissues are higher than those in normal para-carcinoma tissues in patients with gastric cancer, and the 2 indexes are related to clinicopathological characteristics.
