The Expression and Clinical Significance of BAG3 Protein in Cervical Cancer and Precancerous Lesions Tissues
Objective To investigate the expression levels and clinical significance of Bcl-2 associated apoptosis gene 3(BCL2-associated apoptosis-3,BAG3)in cervical cancer and precancerous lesions. Methods 201 cervical tissue samples were selected as the research subjects, including 70 cervical cancer tissue samples(cervical cancer group),46 low-grade squamous in-traepithelial lesions tissue samples(LSIL group),50 high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions tissue samples(HSIL group),and 35 normal cervical tissue samples(normal group).Subsequently, immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression level of BAG3 protein in all specimen tissues, and the relationship between BAG3 protein expression and clinical pathological characteristics as well as prognosis of cervical cancer was analyzed. Results The high expression rate of BAG3 protein in the cer-vical cancer group was significantly higher than that in the HSIL group,LSIL group, and normal group(cervical cancer group>HSIL group>LSIL group>normal group,P<0.05).There was a significant relationship between the expression of BAG3 protein and the degree of differentiation and lymph node metastasis of cervical cancer.Cervical cancer patients with low differentiation and lymph node metastasis had a higher expression rate of BAG3 protein(P<0.05).The 3-year survival rate of 70 cervical cancer pa-tients was 60.00%.Among them, the 3-year survival rates of patients with high and low expression of BAG3 were 53.57%(30/56)and 85.71%(12/14),respectively.There was a statistical significant difference in the 3-year survival rates between the two(P<0.05).The results of univariate analysis showed that the prognosis of cervical cancer was related to the degree of differentia-tion,lymph node metastasis, and BAG3 expression(P<0.05).The results of multivariate Cox analysis showed that low differenti-ation,lymph node metastasis, and high BAG3 expression were independent risk factors affecting the prognosis of cervical cancer patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of BAG3 protein is higher in cervical cancer and precancerous lesions than in normal cervical tissues, and the expression level is related to the degree of cervical cancer differentiation and lymph node metasta-sis.High expression of BAG3 protein is a prognostic risk factor for cervical cancer, and it is expected to serve as an effective bio-marker for clinical diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer.
