The Relationship Between AST/PLT Ratio Index and the Risk of Liver Cancer in Patients with Hepatitis B Cirrhosis Treated with Antiviral Therapy
Objective To analyze the relationship between the ratio index of aspartate aminotransferase(AST)/platelet count(PLT)and the incidence of liver cancer in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis treated with antiviral therapy. Methods Ret-rospective analysis was conducted to collect the data of 103 patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis who received antiviral treatment af-ter being diagnosed were followed up for 2 years. The demographic data, treatment related data, laboratory index examination re-sults and other data of patients were kept intact. The patient's data were carefully reviewed, and the occurrence of liver cancer dur-ing the follow-up period was recorded. The occurrence was included in the liver cancer group, and the non liver cancer group was included. The patients demographic data and clinical data were recorded. The AST and PLT levels of the two groups before antivi-ral treatment were recorded and compared, and the AST/PLT ratio index was calculated.Logistic regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between AST,PLT levels and AST/PLT ratio and the occurrence of liver cancer in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis treated with antiviral therapy. Results During the 2-year follow-up period of 103 patients,a total of 26 cases of liver cancer occurred, with an incidence rate of 25.24%(26/103).There was no statistical significant difference in gender, age, body mass index, drinking history, and pathological type between the liver cancer group and the non liver cancer group(P>0.05).The AST level and AST/PLT ratio index in the liver cancer group were higher than those in the non liver cancer group, while the PLT level was lower than that in the non liver cancer group, with a statistical significant difference(P<0.05).The results of regression analysis showed that AST,PLT level and AST/PLT ratio were related to the occurrence of liver cancer in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis treated with antiviral therapy, and were the influencing factors of liver cancer(P<0.05),of which AST/PLT ratio could be regarded as an independent risk factor. Conclusion AST/PLT ratio index is related to the occurrence of liver cancer in pa-tients with hepatitis B cirrhosis treated with antiviral therapy, and it is an independent risk factor for the occurrence of liver cancer in patients, which should be paid attention to clinically.
