Expression of HOXB9 and E-cadherin in Endometrial Cancer Tissues and Its Correlation with Postoperative Lymph Node Metastasis
Objective To explore the expression of homeobox B9(HOXB9)and E-cadherin in endometrial cancer tissues and its correlation with postoperative lymph node metastasis, and to provide theoretical basis for the clinical treatment and progno-sis evaluation of endometrial cancer. Methods 76 patients with endometrial cancer who underwent surgical treatment were retro-spectively selected as the observation group, and another 32 patients underwent myomectomy were concurrently enrolled as the control group. The observation group was further classified into lymph node metastasis group(n=30)and non lymph node metasta-sis group(n=46)according to the lymph node metastasis status at postoperative1 year.Immunohistochemical staining was utilized to measure the expression of HOXB9 and E-cadherin in the collected tissues, then the correlation between the indicator expression and postoperative lymph node metastasis was explored. Results The positive expression of HOXB9 was 68.42%in cancer tis-sues,which was higher than 34.38%in normal tissues, and the positive expression of E-cadherin was 30.26%in cancer tissues, which was lower than71.88%in normal tissues, with statistical difference(all P<0.05).The positive expression of HOXB9 was 90.00%in lymph node metastasis group, which was higher than 54.35%in non lymph node metastasis group, and the positive expression of E-cadherin was 16.67%in lymph node metastasis group, which was lower than 39.13%in non lymph node metas-tasis group, with statistical difference(all P<0.05).No statistical difference was reported between lymph node metastasis group and non lymph node metastasis group in the menopausal status(P>0.05),whereas statistical difference was found in FIGO stag-ing,lesion diameter, and infiltration depth(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis denoted that HOXB9(OR=1.559,95%CI:1.124~1.905),E-cadherin(OR=1.729,95%CI:1.272~2.350),FIGO staging(OR=1.427,95%CI:1.040~1.860),lesion diameter(OR=1.883,95%CI:1.376~2.562)and depth of invasion(OR=1.974,95%CI:1.562~2.709)were all risk factors for postoperative lymph node metastasis in patients with endometrial cancer(P<0.05).Conclusion The HOXB9 expression is up-regulated and E-cadherin expression is down-regulated in patients with endometrial cancer, and the ab-normal change may increase the risk of postoperative lymph node metastasis, which is one of the factors leading to the poor progno-sis of patients with endometrial cancer after surgery.
