Preparation and properties of ultrafiltration membrane based on polyethylene microporous film
Ultrafiltration(UF)membranes are widely used in biomedical engineering, food industry, and sewage treatment and reuse because they exhibit efficient rejection to macromolecules such as proteins, viruses, and enzymes in the feed liquid.Traditional composite UF membranes are composed of polyester non-woven cloths and hydrophilic polymers, which are expensive and have complicated processes and low import substitution rates. To explore a novel idea of preparing UF membranes by using polyolefin,a UF membrane based on commercial polyethylene microporous film was prepared by ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer(EVOH)hydrophilic modification and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)coating. The effects of hydrophilic modification conditions,PVA crosslinking time and PVA solution content on the performance of UF membranes were investigated. The experimental results show that the UF membrane prepared with 0.30%(w)EVOH modified polyethylene microporous membrane for 360 min as the base membrane,PVA content of 2.5%(w)and crosslinking time of 5 min has the best performance. The experimental results show that the UF membrane has a permeation flux of 86.96 L/(m2·h·MPa)for 1 g/L bovine serum slbumin(BSA)solution, and the rejection can reach 98.63%.
