Performance of modified red mud in adsorbing toluene exhaust gas
The red mud material was modified, and the structure of the modified red mud material was characterized by XRD and N2 adsorption-desorption.The adsorption behavior on the surface of the red mud material was analyzed according to the DFT calculations results. The toluene adsorption performance and stability of the red mud were investigated. The experimental results show that the modified red mud with a Pd loading of 0.3%(w)has the best toluene adsorption effect, and the adsorption saturation capacity is 18.4 mg/g.Acid modification effectively increases the specific surface area of the red mud and facilitates toluene molecule adsorption. The loading of Pd contributes to the improvement of the toluene adsorption performance of the red mud,and the appropriate amount of Pd increases the active sites of the red mud material, promoting the attachment and dispersion of Pd on the material surface. With the prolongation of reaction time, the toluene catalytic efficiency of the red mud material is basically stable at about 90%with good stability.
