Traceability and treatment technologies of volatile organic compounds in waste polyolefins
Polyolefins represented by polyethylene and polypropylene,as one of the most widely used general-purpose plastics, tend to produce a variety of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)such as alkanes, olefins, aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, ethers, and benzenes during the processing of their products.Tracing and removing VOCs have become key prerequisites for the high-value utilization of waste polyolefins. The composition and accurate evaluation methods of VOCs in polyolefin products were reviewed, and the research progress of removal and treatment technologies for VOCs generated in polyolefin materials and during(re)processing was introduced. In addition, the current problems and challenges of VOC treatment technologies were discussed.
