Survey of soil transmitted nematode infection in Tianquan County of Yaan in 2022
Objective To understand the current situation of soil transmitted nematode infection in Tianquan County, and to provide basis for formulating prevention and control strategies. Methods In November 2022,according to the monitoring plan and implementation rules of soil transmitted nematode disease in Sichuan Province, the monitoring points in Tianquan County were divided into five areas by geographical orientation, namely east, west, south, north and middle. Each area randomly selected one administrative village of one township(town)(Qianyang Village of Xinchang Town,Laochang Village of Renyi Town,Baishi Village of Chengxiang Town,Qiufeng Village of Xiaohe Town,Sijing Village of Sijing Town)for monitoring,in each administrative village,200 or more permanent residents over the age of 3 years old were selected as a group, and fecal samples were collected from the tested objects.Intestinal worm eggs were detected by the Kato technique(1 stool and 2 tests),and enterobius worm eggs were also detected by the transparent adhesive tape anal swab method for children aged 3 to 9 years old.SPSS 23.0 software was used for statistical analysis,x2 test was used to compare the difference between the groups, and the test level was α=0.05.Results A total of 1 020 people were investigated. In 2022,the total infection rate of soil transmitted nematodes in Tianquan County was 5.20%(53/1 020).The infection rate was mainly mild, accounting for 94.34%(50/53).Three kinds of nematodes were detected, including hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm. The infection rates were 4.51%(46/1 020),0.29%(3/1020),and 0.39%(4/1 020),respectively.One case of Taenia longum was detected.Renyi Town has the highest infection rate of soil borne nematodes at 7.84%(16/204),followed by Sijing Town at 7.58%(16/211),there was a statistically significant difference in infection rates among populations in different regions(x2=11.349,P=0.023).In the population distribution of soil borne nematode infection rate,females(6.49%)were higher than males(3.56%),with a statistically significant difference(x2=4.399,P=0.036).The infection rate in the 80 years old and above group was the highest among all age groups,at 8.11%(3/37).The education level was mainly among illiterate individuals, with an infection rate of 8.05%(7/87).The highest infection rate was found in preschool and scattered children, with 5.88%(2/34),followed by 5.60%(47/839)in farmers. There was no statistically significant difference in infection rates among different age groups, educational levels, and occupational groups(all P>0.5).Conclusions Nine years after the"4-20 April Lushan Earthquake",the dominant species of soil transmitted nematodes in Tianquan County,Yaan City are hookworm, whipworm, and roundworm, with mild infection as the main.Renyi Town and Sijing Town are the key areas for prevention and control.Women, older individuals, and those with lower education levels are the key populations for prevention and control.Hymenolepis is first detected in Tianquan County, which should be paid attention to.
