Analysis on epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS in Mianyang City from 2018 to 2023
Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of newly reported HIV/AIDS(human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome)cases in Mianyang City from 2018 to 2023,and to provide basis for optimizing prevention and control strategies.Methods The newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in Mianyang City from 2018 to 2023 were exported from the Basic HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Information System in the Chinese Disease Control and Prevention Information System,and statistical analysis was carried out by WPS 2022 and SPSS 23.0 software.P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results From 2018 to 2023,Mianyang City reported 997,1 340,1 123,938,946 and 878 cases of HIV/AIDS,respectively.The male-to-female ratio was 2.73∶1.The majority of cases were elderly people aged 50 and above(60.98%),with elementary school education level(39.79%),married individuals with spouses(42.67%),and farmers(60.64%),and the proportion of cases aged 50 years and above showed an increasing trend year by year(x2trend=103.445,P<0.001).Cases had been reported in all counties/districts/cities,with the highest number of new cases reported in Santai County.The main route of transmission was sexual contact(99.04%),with heterosexual transmission being the main route(88.30%).The proportion of non-marital and non-commercial heterosexual transmission cases showed an increasing trend year by year(x2trend=108.862,P<0.001).Positive cases mainly came from medical institutions.Conclusions The disease burden of HIV/AIDS was serious in Mianyang City.The epidemic situation among the elderly population was severe.It is necessary to strengthen the publicity and education of core knowledge and the prevention and control of key groups to control the AIDS epidemic.
