A Corpus-Based Contrastive Analysis on Two English Translations of Du Fu's Poetry from the Perspective of"Three-Dimension Transformation"
This paper selects the English translations of Du Fu's poetry by Xu Yuanchong and Stephen Owen as the research materials, combining the quantitative and qualitative research methods based upon the self-built corpus. The study applies the concept of"degree of holistic adaptation and selection"in eco-translatology to make an in-depth comparative analysis of the above two translations from the perspective of three-dimensional transformation. On the one hand,it shows the similarities and differences between the two translators'adaptative selection in linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions. On the other hand,it reflects their translation thoughts. The comparative analysis of Xu and Owen's translations is intended to serve as a reference for the choice of translation strategies for the English translation of Chinese classical poetry, and is committed to exploring a path suitable for the dissemination of Chinese poetry.
