Analysis of the Effect of Aggregate Size on the Performance of Noise-reducing Drainage Pavements
To provide reference for the shaping design, noise reduction, safety performance, and dura-bility application under different traffic service conditions of subsequent noise reduction drainage pave-ment,a safer and more reliable low-noise drainage pavement was designed. The comprehensive physi-cal performance tests were conducted on drainage pavements with maximum aggregate sizes of 8,10,13,20 mm.The materials used for the tests were sourced from laboratory and field-mixed asphalt mix-tures.The permeability, skid resistance, and traffic noise of the drainage pavements were analyzed af-ter one year of construction and usage. The results showed that the drainage pavement with a maxi-mum aggregate size of 8 mm exhibited the highest porosity and the best permeability performance. The drainage pavement with a maximum aggregate size of 10 mm had the best skid resistance. In addi-tion,compared to conventional asphalt and concrete pavements, the noise level of the noise-reducing drainage pavement was significantly lower, and the noise levels of all three types of pavements in-creased with the cumulative years of use.
