Study on Road Performance and Skid Resistance of Steel Slag Recycled Asphalt Mixture
The reuse of reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP)can reduce the consumption of natural ag-gregates and environmental pollution. However, the recycled asphalt mixture(RAM)with a high RAP content has issues related to insufficient road performance. Therefore,it is imperative to en-hance both the utilization effects and the quality of RAP.Steel slag RAM was prepared using RAP and steel slag aggregate, replacing natural aggregate, with epoxy asphalt as the binder. The volumet-ric properties, mechanical properties, moisture damage resistance,high-temperature rutting resist-ance,and skid resistance of RAM were investigated by designing RAM with varying RAP dosages while maintaining the optimal asphalt content. The variations in the road performance of RAM under different RAP dosages, curing temperatures, and times were comparatively investigated. The results indicate that steel slag aggregate and epoxy asphalt binder can enhance the mechanical properties and moisture damage resistance, and significantly improve the rutting resistance of RAM.The Marshall stability of RAM-40 is 30.2%higher than that of RAM-100 following a 5 day hold at 120℃,and the dynamic stability of all three RAMs exceeds 8 000 times/mm.
