The mountainous areas of Guizhou have complex geological environments, and landslides in waste disposal sites are not uncommon.Based on the landslide of a temporary waste disposal site on the right side of the filling roadbed of a highway in Guizhou Province after continuous heavy rainfall, through on-site geological investigation, engineering geological analysis, and the construction of a ge-ological model, numerical simulations were carried out to analyze the landslide mechanism of the waste disposal site. The results showed that the waste disposal site was covered with a thick layer of silty clay, and the waste was disposed of without cleaning. As a result of poor drainage and severe water collection in the valley, the silty clay base and slope foot hills were soaked after rainfall, forming a soft foundation that could not withstand the huge sliding force caused by the unreasonable filling of the upper waste, resulting in catastrophic landslides due to shear damage. The lower sliding surface was a linear sliding surface controlled by the strongly weathered limestone surface, while the middle and upper sliding surfaces were arc-shaped sliding surfaces controlled by homogeneous waste material.
