The Impact of Chinese Agricultural Overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Zones on Agricultural Exports of Host Countries
Chinese Agricultural Overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Zones, which are constructed based on the agricultural resources and industrial characteristics of the host countries, serve as comprehensive agribusiness cooperation platforms. These zones play a crucial role in deepening economic collaboration and communication between China and the host nations within the agricultural sector.Employing a difference-in-differences model and panel data from 37 countries spanning 2001 to 2018,this study empirically examines the impact of these zones on the agricultural export trade of the host countries. The findings reveal that the Chinese Agricultural Overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Zones significantly bolster the development of agricultural export trade in host countries. The effects vary considerably across countries with different economic development levels, geographical conditions, and the number of cooperation zones established. These results provide fresh empirical evidence supporting the role of these zones in fostering agricultural economic growth in host nations. To further enhance the development of the Chinese Agricultural Overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Zones, this study proposed the following suggestions:strengthening the construction of international agricultural cooperation platforms, establishing intergovernmental policy communication mechanisms, exploring diversified financial service systems, and enhancing national-level support.
