Pathological scars are attributed to the excessive proliferation of skin tissue following trauma, mainly including hypertrophic scars and keloids. At present, the distinction between hypertrophic scars and keloids primarily relies on doctor's clinical experience and scar assessment. These two methods suffer from the disadvantages of significant subjectivity and poor repeatability. The dermoscopy is a simple and non-invasive diagnostic tool for skin diseases, enabling the observation of the subtle changes in pigmentation and vascular structures within the deeper layers of skin that are imperceptible to the naked eye.The high-frequency ultrasound can obtain scar thickness, echo intensity and other information. Both of them can provide clinicians with objective and real-time evaluations on the diagnosis and efficacy of pathological scar, facilitating more informed treatment decisions.Currently, there are few applications of dermoscopy and high-frequency ultrasound in the diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of pathological scar. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the research progress on dermoscopic and high-frequency ultrasound features of pathological scar, while also discussing the application value and prospects of dermoscopy and high-frequency ultrasound in diagnosing and evaluating clinical curative effect of pathological scar.
