Exploring the treatment of AIDS-related skin pruritus from the perspective of intestinal treatment based on the theories of lung associating with skin and hair and lung and large intestine being interior-exterior related
AIDS-related pruritus is one of the most common complications in patients with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS),often causing significant physical and psychological stress. While highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART)can significantly reduce the mortality rate in HIV/A1DS patients, its efficacy in alleviating AIDS-related pruritus is limited, and it may even induce drug-related rashes. The gut microbiota has become a hot topic of research in recent years, with studies showing a close relationship between gut flora and HIV/AIDS.Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)has been found to regulate the gut microbiota, potentially improving symptoms related to AIDS.Therefore, based on the theories of'lung associating with skin and hair'and'lung and large intestine being interior-exterior related',this paper aims to explore the feasibility of intestinal treatment for AIDS-related skin pruritus, thereby broadening the scope of clinical diagnosis and management strategies for AIDS-related skin pruritus.
