A survey on prevalence of demodex infection in vocational college students in fuyang city
Objective To investigate the prevalence of demodex infection in vocational college students in Fuyang city,and study the influencing factors of demodex infection.Methods A random sample survey of demodex infection rate among 442 freshman and sophomore in Fuyang vocational college was carried out.Demodex was examined by using the cellophane tape method (CTP).A questionnaire on their daily personal habits,facial cleansing,skin type and facial skin disease was performed simultaneously.Results 86 students were with demodex infection with a total infection rate of 19.46% (86/442) ; the rate of simple infection of Demodex folliculorum was 82.56% (71/86),which was higher than that of simple infection of Demodex brevis and muhi-infection.The rate of cheeks infection was 23.26% (20/86),which was higher than that of nasal infection.The infection rate in patients with facial skin diseases,such as acne,dermatitis and folliculitis,was 25.70% (55/214),which was higher than that of subjects without facial skin diseases.The infection rate of students with oily skin was 27.94% (38/136),which was higher than that of individuals with mix skin or dry skin.The infection rate in summer was 26.57% (38/143),which was higher than that in winter.The rate of mild facial demodex infection was up to 82.56% in terms of the degree of infection.The chi square test showed that season,skin type and facial skin disorders were the contributory factors.The multivariate unconditional logistic regression result showed that facial skin disorders were the risk factors of demodex infection.Conclus ion Facial demodex infection is more common in vocational college students.The mild infection caused by Demodex folliculorum is common.There is no difference between girls and boys.The infection rate is positive related with the type of skin,facial skin disorders and seasonal temperature.
