Relationship Between Family Physical Education and Students'Mental Health in Compulsory Education Stage:Chain Mediating Effects of Parent-Child Communication and Exercise Behavior
This study mainly explores the relationship between family physical education and students'mental health in compulsory education stage,and reveals the mediating effects of parent-child communication and exercise behavior.Through cross-sectional survey method,it investigates a total of 1 049 students in compulsory education stage using the Family Physical Education Questionnaire,Mental Health Diagnostic Test,Parent-Child Communication Scale and Physical Activity Rating Scale.The results show that family physical education,parent-child communication,exercise behavior and mental health are significantly correlated in pairs.Family physical education has a significant direct effect on mental health.Parent-child communication,exercise behavior,and parent-child communication and exercise behavior have a significant mediating and chain mediating effects between family physical education and mental health.Conclusions are drawn that family physical education is an important influencing factor on the mental health of students in compulsory education stage,and it also has an indirect impact on mental health through the pathways of parent-child communication and exercise behavior.Suggestions:promoting legislation to protect family physical education;releasing the forces of school and community together to help the development of family physical education;reversing the passive position to take the initiative to carry out family physical education activities;and enhancing the development of physical education through research to strengthen the comprehensiveness of the research of family physical education.
