Separation and Molecular Characterization of Sulfur Compounds in Oil Using Silver-Ion Phenyl Sulfonic Acid Bonded Silica Gel and High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry
A method for separating different types of sulfur compounds from oil was established based on silver-ion phenyl sulfonic acid bonded silica gel(Ag+-SCX).The separated sulfur-containing fractions were methylated and analyzed by high resolution mass spectrometry(HRMS)to obtain the molecular composition of different types of sulfur-containing compounds. The feasibility of the separation method was proved using the mixture of model compounds, the results show that thiophenic and thioether sulfur compounds can be effectively separated. And the method has good applicability to petroleum distillate, crude oil and secondary processing oil.In addition, the method was applied to the separation and analysis of sulfur-containing compounds in a batch of crude oil and its distillates, and the molecular composition and distribution characteristic of different types of sulfur-containing compounds in crude oil and each distillate were characterized in detail.
