Experimental Study on Continuous Sulfonation Process of α-Olefins in Microchannel Reactor
Sodium α-olefin sulfonate(AOS)is an anionic surfactant with good biodegradability, wettability and low irritation.Using the 1-tetradecane and mixed olefins as raw materials, and SO3 as sulfonation agent, the effects of the process conditions such as sulfonation temperature, molar ratio of SO3/AO,mass fraction of sulfonating agent and residence time on AOS mass fraction in a microchannel reactor are investigated. The results show that the optimal process conditions for the sulfonation of 1-tetradecane are as below:sulfonation temperature of 40 ℃,SO3/AO molar ratio of 1.2,and SO3 mass fraction of 10%.The mixed olefins are sulfonated under the optimal conditions such as sulfonation temperature of 50 ℃,SO3/AO molar ratio of 1.1,and SO3 mass fraction of 10%.The increase of feed-in flow rate can strengthen the mass transfer process and increase the active substance AOS in the product;the increase of residence time can aggravate the occurrence of side reactions and reduce active substances in the product. The α-olefin sulfonation is a strong exothermic reaction based on mass transfer in microchannel reactor. It can effectively improve the product quality and the intrinsic safety of the process when the heat can be removed in time.It is of practical significance for development of the downstream products of coal-based α-olefins.
