Vanadium oxide has the advantages of diverse coordination numbers and oxidation states,low cost,and rich resources.As a typical transition metal oxide,vanadium oxide is a promising electrode material for lithium-ion batteries,which has good storage capacity for lithium-ion and long cycling capacity.Moreover,it is an ideal energy storage material for supercapacitors because of its high power density,fast charge discharge rate and excellent cycle period.By contrast,metal vanadate shows good reversibility and cyclicity.Constructing reasonable nanostructures is an effective way to obtain vanadium oxide electrode materials with excellent electrochemical performance,and is also one of the most effective methods to improve the discharge/charging efficiency of electrode materials.The research progress of the application of vanadium oxide and metal vanadate in lithium-ion batteries and the application of vanadium oxide in supercapacitors are reviewed,the effects of structure and preparation conditions on the properties of vanadium oxides and metal vanadates are discussed,the application prospects of vanadium oxides and metal vanadates are looked forward.
