Prevalence of pre-diabetes mellitus and its related influencing factors among people aged 40-79 years in Rongchang District of Chongqing Municipality,2022
Objective To investigate the prevalence of pre-diabetes mellitus(PDM)and its related influencing factors in Rongchang District of Chongqing Municipality.Methods A multi-stage random sampling method was used to conduct a survey in 21 streets or towns in Rongchang District.3-5 villages or communities were randomly selected from each surveyed site,and then 20-50 eligible surveyed subjects were randomly selected from each village or community.The investigation contents included questionnaire survey,physical examination and blood biochemical test.Multivariate logistic regression based on non-conditional binary classification step-back method was used to analyze the correlations of different influencing factors with the prevalence of PDM.Results Among3,017 surveyed subjects,the male to female ratio was 0.94:1,and the average age was(62.14±11.13)years old.Rural residents,subjects with primary school education or below,workers in agriculture,forestry,animal husbandry and fishing,and the married/remarried/cohabitants accounted for 60.19%,60.79%,53.73%and 89.13%respectively.A total of 1,176 patients with PDM were detected,and the prevalence rate of PDM was 38.98%.Multivariate logistic regression analysis displayed that the increase of age(50-years:OR=1.477,95%CI:1.147-1.903;60-years:OR=1.542,95%CI:1.184-2.008;70-79 years:OR=1.680,95%CI:1.285-2.196),smoking(OR=1.315,95%CI:1.090-1.587),salty diet pattern(OR=1.484,95%CI:1.192-1.847),frequency of having fruits ≥200 g per day per week(3-4 days/per week:OR=1.223,95%CI:1.016-1.473;≥5 days/per week:OR=1.666,95%CI:1.364-2.035),insufficient physical activity(OR=1.488,95%CI:1.284-1.724),overweight(OR=1.337,95%CI:1.129-1.582),obesity(OR=1.399,95%CI:1.104-1.773)and central obesity(OR=1.233,95%CI:1.043-1.458)were associated with a high risk of suffering from PDM.Conclusion The prevalence rate of PDM in Rongchang District is relatively high.Priority interventions should be conducted among populations with advanced age,smoking,salty diet pattern,overweight,obesity,central obesity and insufficient physical activity.
