Research progress on elderly stroke-associated pneumonia and malnutrition
Stroke-associated pneumonia(SAP)is a common complication of stroke, and has the characteristics of rapid onset, severe illness, rapid change and poor prognosis, which greatly increase the disability and mortality rates of patients. The patients'body catabolism is improved after stroke onset, hence it is easy to appear nutritional risk as well as malnutrition which can lead to SAP,and SAP can aggravate malnutrition and form a vicious cycle. It is helpful to analyze the nutritional status of elderly patients with stroke through scientific nutritional screening tools and develop reasonable nutritional support in preventing and treating SAP.Nutritional support for elderly SAP should be started as soon as possible, moreover, enteral nutrition is the preferred method. When enteral nutrition cannot meet nutritional requirements, parenteral nutrition should be adopted to improve the patients'prognoses.
