Effect of N-acetylcysteine combined with tiotropium on serum hs-CRP,HNP 1-3,PTX-3,and lung function in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Objective To investigate the effects of N-acetylcysteine plus tiotropium on serum hypersensitivity-C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),human neutrophil peptide 1-3(HNP 1-3),pentamerin 3(PTX-3)and lung function in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods This study is a prospective study with 102 patients selected from Jiyuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2019 to August 2022 and divided into control group(51 patients, tiotropium inhalation therapy)and study group(51 patients treated with N-acetylcysteine plus tiotropium inhalation therapy). Both groups were treated for 14 days. The treatment effect of patients, the change of pulmonary function index before and after treatmwent, serum hs-CRP,HNP 1-3,PTX-3 and oxidative stress index levels were compared between the two groups. Results The total clinical response rate of the study group and control group was 88.2%(45/51)and 72.6%(37/51)respectively,higher than those of the control group;the lung function index, superoxide dismutase(SOD)were higher than those before treatment, and the serum hs-CRP,HNP 1-3,PTX-3,and malondialdehyde(MDA)and nitric oxide(NO)were lower than those before treatment, and the treatment index was lower than that of the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion N-acetylcysteine and tiotropium in COPD patients with acute exacerbation can improve the level of lung function index, regulate oxidative stress response, reduce inflammation, and have definite clinical effect.
