Effect of Silane Coupling Agent on Short-term Conductivity of Quartz Sand Fracturing Proppants
The hydraulic fracturing is the main way of stimulation in the oil and gas development, and the quartz sand fracturing proppants are the key construction materials used in the hydraulic fracturing. However, due to the low short-term conductivity of the quartz sand frac-turing proppants,it is difficult to achieve the goal of oil and gas production increase. The short-term conductivity of the quartz sand fractu-ring proppants is enhanced by a silane coupling agent modification way.The four types of silane coupling agents, including KH570,A171,A151 and A172 were used to modify the 70-140 mesh quartz sand fracturing proppants under the closed pressure ranging from 10~60 MPa.The results indicate that using the same silane coupling agents when increasing the closure pressures results in a continuous decrease in short-term conductivity. When the closing pressure is the same, the short-term conductivity of the samples obtained by KH570 and A172 are the highest(54.18~6.19 μm2·cm)and the lowest(36.41~2.21 μm2·cm),respectively.The short-term conductivity of the sam-ples obtained by A171 and A151 are between the first two, which are 49.23~5.21 μm2·cm and 42.38~4.91 μm2·cm.This study can ef-fectively enhance the short-term conductivity of the quartz sand fracturing proppants, which can provide some ideas for synthetizing the frac-turing proppants with high short-term conductivity.
