Application of Thermal Neutron Imaging System in Shale Oil Exploration
Thermal neutron imaging system is a post-saturation logging technology for pulsed neutron suites. When conventional open hole logging can not be performed in some wells, the thermal neutron imaging system can be used to obtain the logging data after sleeve, and re-alize the evaluation of the oil-water layer in a single well, providing the basis for the later perforation and other operations. On the basis of describing the working principle and technical characteristics of thermal neutron imaging system, application results in shale oil development are introduced. The thermal neutron imaging data can be used to evaluate the physical properties and brittle mineral content of the reservoir, classify the reservoir and identify the high-quality reservoir.By analyzing the logging information of thermal neutron imaging system before and after fracturing, and comparing the changes of reservoir porosity and oil saturation before and after fracturing, the fracturing effect can be effectively evaluated.Research result can provide technical support for improving oilfield development effect and enhancing shale oil re-covery.
