With the wide application of water injection operation, microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC)has become the main cause of corrosion failure of pipelines and equipment in oil and gas industry, and the development of MIC-resistant special tubes is an effective measure to deal with this kind of failure problem. In this paper, from the role of corrosive microorganisms and biofilms, the nature and evo-lution of biofilms closely related to MIC are reviewed, the research progress of MIC-resistant special steels such as Cu-containing low alloy steels and Cu-containing stainless steels are systematically analyzed, and the role of alloying elements and microstructures in the improve-ment of MIC resistance is discussed. Finally, the development direction of MIC-resistant special steels is envisioned to provide reference for promoting the development and application of MIC-resistant special tubes for oil and gas industry.
