Influence of body mass index of the husbands on pregnancy outcomes of intrauterine insemination
Objective To analyze the clinical data of the couples receiving intrauterine insemination(IUI),and to investigate the influence of body mass index(BMI)of the husbands on the pregnancy outcomes. Methods Totally 306 couples receiving IUI in Henan Provincial People's Hospital from June 2021 to June 2022 were divided into obeses group(BMI:≥28.0 kg/m2),overweight group(BMI:24-<28 kg/m2)and normal weight group(BMI:18.5-<24 kg/m2)according to the BMI of the husbands. The clinical data of the wives including age,BMI,anti-Mullerian hormone, basal sinus follicle count and surgery-day endometrial thickness, and the data of the husbands including age, rate of idiopathic infertility,surgery-day normal sperm rate and total progressively motile sperm count were compared among three groups. Results There were no significant differences in the age,BMI,anti-Mullerian hormone, basal sinus follicle count, and surgery-day endometrial thickness of the wives among three groups(P>0.05).The total progressively motile sperm count was less in obese group[30.77(14.19,42.00)X 106/mL]than that in overweight group[34.30(24.58,50.66)X106/mL]and normal weight group[40.25(25.92,66.12)X106/mL](P<0.05),and showed no significant difference between overweight group and normal weight group(P>0.05).There were no significant differences in the age, primary infertility rate, and surgery-day normal sperm rate of the husbands among three groups(P>0.05).There were no significant differences in the rates of clinical pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, and live birth among three groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The total progressively motile sperm count is less in the obese males than that in overweight males and normal weight males, but obesity does not affect the pregnancy outcome of IUI.
