Research progress of farnesoid X receptor in kidney diseases
Farnesoid X receptor(FXR)is a ligand-activated transcription factor in the nuclear receptor superfamily, which is involved in a variety of biological processes such as metabolism and transport of bile acids, lipids and glucose. In recent years, the role of FXR in the kidney has received much attention since it has been found to be associated with a variety of kidney diseases including acute kidney injury, chronic kidney diseases, diabetic nephropathy,obesity-related glomerulopathy, lupus nephritis, renal cell carcinoma and hepatorenal syndrome. This paper reviews the research progress of the physiological function of FXR and its role in kidney diseases.
