Progress of targeting complement for lupus nephritis
Lupus nephritis(LN)is the kidney damage of systemic lupus erythematosus, more than 50%of systemic lupus erythematosus patients have clinical manifestations of renal involvement, and LN is also one of the most important causes of end-stage renal disease in China. At present, the pathogenesis of LN has not been fully defined, but it is generally acknowledged that the formation and depositions of local immune complexes in the kidney lead to over-activation of the complement system, which leads to local inflammatory response and injury to the kidney. The complement system plays a key role in the pathogenesis of LN and is expected to become a novel therapeutic target for LN.This paper reviews the research progress of complement-targeting in the treatment of LN.
