Holistic nursing perspective on a multisensory stimulation intervention program in mechanically ventilated patients with AECOPD
Objective To explore the application effect of multisensory stimulation intervention program under the perspective of whole-person care in mechanically ventilated patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD).Methods 60 cases of AECOPD mechanical ventilation patients admitted to the emergency ICU of a tertiary hospital in Nanning from March 1,2022 to September 30,2023 were selected.According to the principle of random allocation, they were divided into the experi-mental group and the control group, with 30 cases in each group. The experimental group received multisensory stimulation interventions constructed on the basis of whole-person nursing theory, while the control group received conventional nursing care. The differences in the incidence of delirium, the score of Activities of Daily Living(ADL),the arterial blood gas oxygenation index, the duration of me-chanical ventilation and the duration of ICU stay were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of delirium in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group, and the ADL score was higher than that in the control group, and the differ-ence was statistically significant(all P<0.05);whereas there was no significant difference between the two groups in arterial blood gas oxygenation index, mechanical ventilation time, and ICU hospitalization time(P>0.05).Conclusion The multisensory stimulation intervention program under the perspective of whole-person care helps to reduce the occurrence of delirium and improve the ability of activities of daily living in mechanically ventilated patients with AECOPD.
