Epidemiological investigation and analysis of venomous snake bite in northern Guangxi
Objective To investigate and analyze the epidemiological characteristics of venomous snake bites in northern Guangxi,in order to provide scientific basis for formulating and optimizing the prevention and control strategy of venomous snake bites in this are-a.Methods The clinical data of 3 607 patients with venomous snake bite treated in Guilin Snakebite Treatment Center of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine from January 2014 to December 2023 were collected by retrospective analysis.Species of venomous snakes,bite season and time period,time from bite to treatment,age,sex,bite site,severity of disease and prognosis of patients were ana-lyzed.Results The main species of venomous snakes were Trimeresurus mucrosquamatus,Deinagkistrodon acutus,and Naja naja at-ra.The peak season of venomous snake bites was mainly summer and autumn(July-September),with daily peaks occurring at 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM.The patients were mainly male and aged between 31 and 70 years old,and the most common bite sites were limbs.Only 30.44%of patients could see a doctor in time within 3 h after injury,and the prognosis of patients was generally good.Conclu-sion To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of venomous snake bites in northern Guangxi,strengthen the publicity and edu-cation of venomous snake bites,build emergency network,strengthen the basic treatment capacity and enrich the reserve of medical re-sources and other comprehensive measures are beneficial to improve the overall prevention and control level of venomous snake bites.
