Effectiveness of Fixed Activated Sludge with Different Carriers to In-situ Remediate Mildly Silted Sediment
Sediment remediation is crucial in the management of black smelly water bodies, and in-situ remediation is easy to operate with little damage to the river channel.Through an in-situ remediation experimental devices with fixed bacterial agents, the efficacy of fixed activated sludge with three carriers of activated carbon, zeolite, and cer-amsite to remediate mildly silted sediments was explored. The experimental results of the physical properties and the adsorption characteristics of the carrier to microorganisms show that activated carbon has a richer pore structure and stronger activated sludge adsorption capacity than zeolite and ceramsite, the adsorption capacity of zeolite is stronger than that of ceramsite.Experimental results show that all the three carriers fixed activated sludge can effectively re-duce the content of organic matter in the sediment, the activated carbon one has the greatest effect which can reduce the organic matter content by 45.2%within 60 days; All three types of activated sludge can promote the transfer of heavy metal ions in the sediment, and the zeolite one has the best removal effect with the remove rates of copper ions, chromium ions, and lead ions respectively by 28.8%,27.2%,37.2%within 60 days;In addition, the three sludge can effectively remove CODCr、NH3-N、TN and TP in the overlying water of the sediment.Within 60 days, the removal rate of CODCr exceeds 50%,all the removal rates of NH3-N,TN,and TP exceed 80%.Based on the treat-ment effects of sediment and overlying water,it can be seen that the activated carbon-fixed activated sludge system has the best performance, followed by the zeolite-fixed activated sludge system.
