Forward Simulation Study of Roadbed Structure by Ground-penetrating Radar Detection
The relative dielectric constant is an important parameter characterizing the dielectric properties and po-larizability of the soil. The propagation law of electromagnetic waves emitted from ground-penetrating radar(GPR)in each structural layer of the road is closely related to the dielectric properties of the interlayer medium. In this pa-per,based on the principle of time-domain finite element method,a forward simulation study is carried out for the characteristics of the electromagnetic wave echoes between the layers of the roadbed by the forward simulation soft-ware.The results show that the dielectric constant of the surface layer has less influence on the amplitude attenuation of GPR electromagnetic wave in the roadbed layer; When the relative dielectric constant of the roadbed layer is 20.0 and 24.0,the one of the surface layer increases from 5.0 to 6.5,the amplitude attenuation value of the roadbed layer increases by 0.04 and 0.09 V/m respectively; When the relative dielectric constant of the roadbed layer is 20.0 and 22.0,the one of the base layer increases from 7.0 to 9.0,the amplitude attenuation value of the roadbed layer de-creases by 0.85 and 0.81 V/m respectively; When the relative dielectric constant of the base layer is 7.0,7.5 and 8.5,the one of roadbed layer increased from 12.0 to 30.0,the amplitude attenuation value of roadbed increases by 1.44,1.47 and 1.44 V/m respectively.
