Research on Color Design and Safety Impact of Expressway Guardrails Based on Driving Simulation
Being a dull image, the traditional form of concrete guardrails has a significant sense of conflict with the road environment, which can easily cause fatigue of drivers and passengers. In order to improve the driving environment of highways, the Tianfu New Area-Qionglai Expressway project in Sichuan Province was taken as an example. The impact of color changes on driver driving behavior, physiology, and psychology were discussed from a visual perspective.Four color types of simulation scenes were built by 3Ds Max software.A total of 25 drivers were recruited for driving simulation experiments,s data of the psychological, eye movements and driving behavior were collected to build a comprehensive evaluation model based on combined empowerment-TOPSIS.The research results indicate that both color and contrast significantly affect the driving behavior, physiology and psychology of the drivers, especially the more significant impact on indicators of standard deviation of driving speed, lateral acceleration and pupil diameter. This research result can provide reference for the safety and feasibility of different color design schemes for expressway guardrails.
