Evaluation of Sponge City Construction in Polder Areas Based on the SWMM-MIKE21 Coupling Model
Based on a coupling of SWMM and MIKE21 models,a comprehensive evaluation of hydrology and water quality was conducted for the sponge city construction in Xuwei New District,Lianyungang,Jiangsu Province.By simulating land stormwater management by SWMM model and lake hydrodynamics and water quality by MIKE21 model, the coupling of the 2 models was achieved in a hydrodynamic water quality module, focusing on stormwater control, runoff reduction, pollutant load decrease and water quality improvement. The results indicate a high model fit(MSE of 0.787 and MAPE of 6.72%),confirming the model's accuracy in reflecting the effects of sponge city construction. After the implementation of sponge facilities, the total annual runoff control rate in Xuwei New District reached 76.92%,non-point source pollution load was reduced from 80%to 40%,the highest water level of the lakes decreased by 0.02 meters, and water quality was significant improved. The application of this coupled model effectively assessed the comprehensive benefits of sponge city construction, providing scientific technical references and practical guidance for similar regions, significantly contributing to the enhancement of regional water safety and the ongoing improvement of the water environment.
