The Impact of Transportation Infrastructure Construction on the Income Gap Between Urban and Rural Residents in Anhui Province
Based on the panel data of various regions in Anhui Province from 2011 to 2020,an intermediary effect model is adopted, the income gap between urban and rural residents is taken as the research object, and the level of urbanization is set as the intermediary variable for exploring the impact of the construction of transportation infra-structure in Anhui Province. The results show that the transportation infrastructure can narrow the income gap be-tween urban and rural residents in Anhui Province, that is,every 1%increase in the level of transportation infra-structure can effectively reduce the income gap by 0.003%.The impact degree of different regions is also different.Every 1%increase in the level of transportation infrastructure in northern Anhui reduces the income gap between urban and rural areas 0.244%,and 0.345%in southern Anhui, while there is no impact in central Anhui.Through the intermediary effect analysis,it is concluded that one of the important ways to affect the income gap between ur-ban and rural residents is the urbanization level of transportation infrastructure construction. At the same time, there are obvious spatial differences in the intermediary effect of urbanization level, that is,the north and south of Anhui Province have intermediary effect on urbanization development, while the relatively developed central Anhui Pro-vince does not show the impact of transportation infrastructure construction on urbanization level.
