The role and research progress of m6 A methylation modification in the female reproductive system
N6-methyladenosine(m6 A)modification is the most abundant epigenetic modification in RNA,which dynamically and reversibly regulates various life processes.Recent studies have shown that m6A modifiers and regulators are essential for follicular development.Dysregulation of m6A modification can lead to diseases of the female reproductive system, including polycystic ovary syndrome, primary ovarian insufficiency, ovarian aging and even gynecological malignancies such as cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancer. This article reviews the research progress of m6A methylation in the process of follicular development and the occurrence and development of female reproductive system diseases, and systematically introduces the mechanism of m6A methylase and its regulators in the process of follicular development as well as the occurrence and development of female reproductive system diseases,in order to provide new detection methods and research directions for the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of female reproductive system diseases.
